GPSmyCity App – The useful app lets you use your mobile device as a personal tour guide. Includes more than 6000 self-guided city walks in 750+ cities around the world. You can download the maps to use offline.
Steripen – To eliminate the use of plastic bottles when water quality is questionable, use this small, battery operated water filter with UV light technology that easily fits in your backpack.

Gumtree – A Craigslist-like website for finding travel partners, rideshares, jobs, second hand gear, homestays, and much more. It spans 76 cities across 11 countries.
EatWith – Website for finding home-cooked meals with locals. Locals post listings for dinner parties and specialty meals that you can sign up for – a great way to do something different, pick a local’s brain, and make a new friend.
TransferTravel – A sort of StubHub to help travelers buy and sell airline tickets, nonrefundable hotel packages, and more. Once you’re registered, you can search for what you need or list your unused bookings. The site takes a commission for securely processing payments.
